Chick flicks and their happy endings

I am a big fan of chick-flicks. Yes, I know the plots are sometimes a little predictable; you know that nine times out of ten, the male and female lead will get together at the end of the movie. But I love the journey they take to get there. I love the ups and downs and comedy and sadness. But most of all I love the moment when they realise they’re in love. The point where they kiss, or say “I love you,” or some other wonderful “you complete me“-type-moment, if done well, literally gives me a little tingle inside my chest. And as the credits roll I’m left with a lovely, happy, feel-good feeling. This line sums it up: “I like corny. I’m looking for corny in my life” (from The Holiday).

Chick-lit books are much the same. That’s why I love to read (and write!) them.

So, here’s a list of my favourite movies. What do you think? Can you think of a fabulous feel-good chick flick that I absolutely must see? Comment below, tweet me, or send me a Facebook message.

Great list, Sarah! Being married with two sons, I don’t get to watch chick flicks often enough, so I don’t have anything to add but I will definitely come back to this list for reference when I do get the chance to watch one! 🙂

I’ll be saving this list, for sure! I love a good chick flick and I’m sure there are several here I haven’t seen.
From your 25, I particularly enjoyed Love Actually, The Holiday, Notting Hill, Lose a guy in 10 days and The Wedding Date. Oh, and Dirty Dancing, almost goes without saying 🙂
But my all time favorite, watch again-and-again-and-again is Bridget Jones Diary. Even though I suppose I qualify as a Smug Married, there’s something about Bridget’s pain and resilience that pulls me in time after time.

  3. Lucy Burgess says:

While you where sleeping is one of my favouite films! Glad to see it’s on the top 25! Alot of people haven’t heard of it! Holiday has got to be my number one thought! Very good list though and some I haven’t watched! So I better get watching!
