Spring Equinox Rituals
See the sun rise
Find a local spot with a nice view and go for a walk just before dawn. As the sun comes up over the horizon, take a moment to feel grateful and reflect on everything the sun provides: we literally could not survive without it!
Close your eyes for a moment and let the warming rays wash over you as you take a deep, cleansing breath. As you continue your walk, be mindful by noticing all the new growth that’s springing up; from flowers to the leaves returning on the trees.
4. Plant seeds (not just the garden variety)
It’s a great time to plant *actual* seeds of course, but also: set some intentions. Review and refresh your goals. Write your ‘wish list’ for the Universe in your journal. Update your vision board. Carry out a manifesting ritual. Start making plans for Spring and Summer. What do you want to do, be and have? Now’s a great time to get clear.
5. Create and enjoy your own spiritual ritual
I have a ritual I enjoy on new moons and full moons, as well as the equinoxes and solstices. Create your own by tapping into your intuition and seeing what feels right. Here’s mine to get you started… I:
Put some relaxing background music on. I really like ‘Kirtan Alive’ by Edo & Jo, or Reiki Gold. Find something that relaxes you.
Light candles and/or incense (especially good for this as they represent both the return of the light and the fire of the sun). This creates a lovely atmosphere, and smells lovely too.
Place some crystals around me. I have many crystals so I pick whatever I feel called to in the moment. Sometimes in a semi-circle in front of me, others in an entire circle surrounding my space.
Take a moment to ground and centre myself: I place my feet on the floor, close my eyes and imagine deep roots coming out from underneath my feet and connecting me to the Earth. A few deep, relaxing breaths here before opening my eyes again.
Write in my journal, including: 10 things I’m grateful for, a list of positive memories, and my intentions for the coming month or season.
At the end of my ritual, I say ‘Thank you universe!’ and always end feeling relaxed, calm and yet invigorated. Use your instincts to create your own ritual, and practice it often for maximum benefits.
